Housing Law and Policy Course 2012
Aim of course
Dr. Padraic Kenna will present this popular course, organised in association with Ballymun Community Law Centre, which is relayed by video link to Ballymun.
The aim of this course is to familiarise students with the principles and concepts governing housing law and policy in Ireland, and how these are applied (or not) in Ireland today. The changing nature of housing in Ireland, and the development of housing rights at national and international level and law reforms in this area require a contemporary framework for the proper study of housing law.
In addition to a “black-letter law” approach this course will also adopt a “law in context” perspective, accordingly offering a critical analysis of the housing system in Ireland. This course, therefore, will place the traditional legal approaches within the more contemporary and people-centered approaches to housing law and policy.
On completion of this course, students will be in a very strong position to work with, and alongside, housing and housing related organizations, in a strategic and constructive way.
Dates: Wednesdays from 6PM-8PM: Jan 11th - Mar 28th 2012
Venue: Council Chambers, Civic Offices, Main Street, Ballymun, Dublin 9.
Course fee is €180 (fee waivers may be available for those who meet the eligibility criteria.)
