Peer Mediation
Peer mediation is an internationally recognised programme of conflict resolution aimed at children aged 11 & 12 - 5th and 6th class students.
BCLC has been working successfully with six of the eight primary schools in Ballymun on a peer mediation programme. The goal of peer mediation is to reduce conflict and provide children with problem-solving techniques. Peer mediation is successful because is empowers students, which motivates them to behave more responsibly.
BCLC will be working with Trinity Comprehensive on a peer mediation programme specifically designed for secondary schools to build on the capacity of their first year students who participated in the training in primary school. We will also introduce the mediation training to the students in transition year.
