What's New
Family Law Advice & Information Service
A new Family Law Advice and Information Service has been started in BCLC.
This free service takes place every Wednesday morning by appointment only.
The information and advice will be provided on the understanding that the solicitor will not be meeting the person again for the same family law matter and will not be representing them in court, taking actions for them as clients or writing letters on their behalf.
Those needing such services should consult the Legal Aid Board or a private solicitor.
The types of family law matters the solicitors will be able to offer Information and advice about include:
Access/Custody/Guardianship
Maintenance
Separation/Divorce
Cohabitation
Civil Partnership
WHO CAN USE THE SERVICE?
The service is free and open to any resident of Ballymun unless there is a conflict of interest or some other similar reason.
Conflict of Interest
For legal reasons, a family law service can only deal with one of the parties to a dispute, so if one person is already registered with the BCLC service (or a conflict of interest otherwise arises), the second applying person cannot be dealt with. Where a conflict of interest arises, the second person seeking an appointment will be advised that there is a conflict of interest but no further information will be provided. They will however be referred to the Legal Aid Board or Free Legal Advice Centre (FLAC) or another community law centre providing family law advice and information
