The High Court declared the Joint Labour Committee (JLC) system unconstitutional in the case of:

JOHN GRACE FRIED CHICKEN LIMITED, JOHN GRACE AND QUICK SERVICE FOOD ALLIANCE LIMITED (PLAINTIFFS )
Vs
THE CATERING JOINT LABOUR COMMITTEE, THE LABOUR COURT, IRELAND AND THE ATTORNEY GENERAL (DEFENDANTS).

Now there is no method for setting minimum pay rates in certain employments In Ireland.

Dr. MICHAEL DOHERTY DCU author of Principles of Irish Employment Law, with Dr. Brenda Daly, will discuss the current crisis after the High Court decision and what may happen now including the possible legislative change.
